We love getting to know the people behind the job roles, and we’re sure you do too. We caught up with Ann Ford, Learning & Development Consultant at Acaboom to find out more about what makes her tick!
Can you tell us about your role at Acaboom?
Sure, at Acaboom, I work as part of the onboarding process. My primary responsibilities include speaking with new clients to understand their agency and processes. This information helps me deliver training sessions to new clients, and I also follow up on their usage since they are new to Acaboom. Additionally, I design and deliver webinars with a variety of topics, including refresher sessions for existing clients, and I create various learning assets like videos and guides to help users make the most of Acaboom.
Do you have any mentors in your professional life?
Yes, over the years, I’ve had great managers and colleagues who have served as mentors, including senior figures at Acaboom, such as Brian and Suzanna. There’s also Jason Wright, whom I worked alongside for many years at Reapit. He was always dedicated to delivering top-notch training.
When did you have your first job, and what was it?
My first paying job was at the age of 16. I had two part-time jobs at that time: one as a shelf stacker at a food store in Newcastle and the other as a part-time worker at a bar. My first full-time job was with Santander when it was known as Abbey National. I started as a cashier and worked my way up to become a mortgage advisor, eventually transitioning into a training role with the company.
What inspires you in life?
My eldest brother is a significant inspiration to me. He has faced various challenges and has always treated everyone with equality and the dignity they deserve. I’ve adopted this approach in my life and have passed it on to my children.
What type of music do you enjoy?
I have eclectic musical tastes and enjoy a wide range of music. However, I have a particular fondness for Soul and Motown. There are too many artists and songs to mention, but those genres resonate with me.
What are your interests outside of work?
I love traveling, especially city breaks. I try to fit in some sort of holiday with my three adult children whenever possible. It’s a great way to explore new places and create lasting memories with family.
What is the best feature of Acaboom for you?
The best feature of Acaboom for me is the App notifications. These notifications allow me to see when a customer is looking at a proposal, enabling me to make a timely call and potentially win the business. It keeps me in constant touch with what’s happening and helps improve our communication with clients.
